IF you played the map minions on eggwars, you would see that the villager has his own island. (Wow that is so cool!) No it's not.. You see if someone gets a hold of your villager island you cant get any resources, and you would litterally be farm bait..

Maps don't always look the same, that's to make sure there's a different kind of gameplay on every map. Also, the two islands are very close to each other, so if it bugs you that they aren't connected, you could close the gap by placing some sandstone blocks :).
