In Minerware, there are too many times I've played where 5+ people get the same amount of microgame points, and only one gets the rewards at the end. I have a few fixes (suggestions, of course) to balance the whole thing.
1. AMOUNT OF POINTS EARNED
Instead of the top 3 finalists getting all the rewards, I suggest every time you win a round, you should get 1 point, and at the end 1st Place gets 15 points, 2nd gets 12, 3rd gets 10. Right now, there's really no real incentive to get 1st. Also, if you don't win, at least you get something for playing.
2. PLACING
As I said above, there's no real incentive to try to work for 1st; the top 3 get the same amount of rewards (I'm 99% sure that's right). Also, again, many times I see a lot of people getting the same amount of points, yet only 1 gets to reap the rewards, most likely chosen randomly. I think that if a game ends with ties in the top 3, there should be some sort of microgame to place them fairly. The "Knock Everyone Off" one would be a great example, with the players getting placed on when they were knocked off. Lava Floor and Mine the Ore are also options too.
