TLDR: do not enchant rods past lure 5
since this question is asked a lot, i decided id try my best to explain it in a quick simple thread. a fishing rod without lure catches at a minimum of 5 seconds and a maximum of 30. Every level of lhre reduces both times by 5 seconds. (lure 1 = min 0 max 25, 2 = min -5 max 20, etc.) the time a fish is going to take to catch is determined instantly when the fishing rod is used. if it is below 0 the time will be redetermined the next tick and will continue doing so until the value is above 0. this is why lure 6 does not work, the maximum is 0 seconds and minimum is -25, rendering it unuseable. do not upgrade past lure 5.
