Please note: This has bedrock tag because the main focus of this is to be as close to equal, though if there's enough people wanting it on java, ill put it as all networks instead of bedrock

Goal of gamemode:
  • To get as close to equal skill levels on all 3 types of devices (Touch, Keyboard, Controller)
  • Actually have gameplay that doesn't deserve to be within a microgame
  • Designing Maps shouldn't be too hard for it (Think Skywars/Eggwars Difficulty)

  • Boats would be used as the vehicle for racing, as they have the best turning mechanics so PC, Console and Mobile will have the same speed.​
  • Horses could be used so theres a variance in speed but then that means that PC will have the advantage, due to speed in which you can turn the camera​
If possible a combination of the variance of speed within horses and the turning speed of boats would be best, but that means that, for balancing reasons, you would need the ability to change the turning speed of horses which i dont know if it is possible so boats would still be best
The scoreboard would have to be put in a certain way so that you can see (not in order):
  • your position​
  • the racers around you (as well as distance/time away if possible)​
  • Fastest lap [Yours + Round's Best (Priority should be your own)]​
  • the lap number​
Some of these can be omitted
  • Time Trial
    • Single lap, Can be done over and over again
    • Used for speed running purposes
  • Short Race
    • Shorter Races, No need for pit lane
    • Target is 2 - 6 minutes of gameplay
  • Endurance Race
    • Longer Races, Pit lane should be required
    • Target is 8 - 15 minutes of gameplay
  • Team Races
    • 2 teams or more, though it could get complicated with more teams
    • Target is 4 - 12 minutes

Special Races (That is, limited time ones) i.e. 1 hour of x Race
Example: Nations cup from Gran Turismo Sport + Hive (Bedrock) Leaderboard

Every Quarter (the middle of that quarter so February, May, August and November) would have something along the lines of a leaderboard where for the whole month, you can get points by finishing within the top half of the lobby.
Problem is that parties exist and you will need to make it so that AFK people / People who haven't done at least 25% of the race (Total laps, i.e. if its an 8 lap race, they would have to complete 2 laps by the time you finish)

Another Problem would be that with this deterrent, you could have trolls that intentionally dont do much making you lose points so maybe there could be some form of balance

This is more of a helping guide for mapmakers though can also be used for what is needed for races
DODONT
Have an interesting track layout (Dont worry, you can mimic the track layouts from real life tracksMake a simple oval, you can use an oval and have some infield track to go through
Use Ice for the road (If blue ice gets supported, you can use that too) and Packed Ice for the curbsHave banked corners (Boats cant go up and down blocks
Have multiple layouts within the track and lay them out with whats needed for it (Barriers, Hay Bales etc.) [Dont worry if you dont have multiple layouts, it is fine]
Have a pit lane (Not having one is fine but then it wouldn't be done on endurance races)
*more will end up being added sometime, or with recommendation
  • A track (duh)​
    • Should be between 5 and 10 blocks wide for the straights that contain the starting grid​
    • Tighter areas should be minimum 3 blocks wide, less than that and you will get problems with boats not staying on​
  • Stands for people to watch it on​
    • Generally, this doesn't happen within the inside of the track unless its a street circuit, then its fair game​
  • Barriers (No not the block) (Used to stop unwanted shortcuts)​
    • The block could work when you don't want a shortcut but still want it to look nice​
  • Runoff (For realism purposes)​
  • Terrain (The hardest part of this unless the area its situated in is flat area)​
    • Trees, sand, lakes​
    • The better the terrain, the better the track usually​
  • Facilities, Up to the builder
    • Grandstands are needed though
Kerbs are placed generally where the racing line goes off the track i.e.

Spa's Racing line (in blue) shows that the wheels would go off track and so kerbs made it so the wheels don't cause extra maintenance.

In this, even though the boats shouldn't really need kerbs. Kerbs would end up just being used for realism.

  • Changed Endurance Race time from 20 - 30 minutes to 10 - 25 minutes,
    • endurance was supposed to capture longer races and racing strategies that involve the pitlane like undercuts but the problem is that not many people would race for a half hour.
  • Added Tournaments / Leaderboard
    • Points Table done
  • Added blocks needed
v2.1: Shortened game category times to be between 2 and 15 minutes

Demo that honestly isnt great but mostly has the idea (Only shows laps youve done)

Looks really cool, well made! Maybe with some improvements it could be implemented as a game. I really like how you thought about making a game in which users from any devices could have equal skills, great to think about when making a Bedrock gamemode.

I don't know about the possibilities of adding a game like this and if the playerbase on Bedrock is big enough to make it catch people's attention. Still I love the effort and idea of this!

As long as we don't look to other servers for inspiration, it isn't stealing a minigame. We can spin this off on its own from the ground up and make it a unique experience. Because bedrock doesn't have any kind of racing anywhere. This would be a great addition and that is why my vote is yes. I'd like to get my hands on some track building too if anyone needs help, and I bet I can beat @pɹ∀ZZIMɹ0NƎS even if I haven't done a full race before. 😁

I’d like the idea, however I don’t think it’d bring much to the table as we see how well line dash did. People on bedrock play for pvp weirdly enough, and I don’t think it’d be played.

I mean, what did line dash add again? But seriously, a racing game could open several opportunities on the servers. Think about things like tournaments (which bedrock still has yet to have even on a smaller scale). I think games like this are some of the things that would be played and make cubecraft even better like the concept that @Siftenly once made of CS:GO. And it may not be one of the most popular gamemodes, but it still is great to have variety. If it sucks, eh, who cares, it just didn't have enough hook or reasons to keep people involved.

This looks awesome! It's very clear you took your time making this and it shows. I think it sounds like a great game but would like to point out some things that could make it "server ready". First i think that the time of 20-30 minutes sounds extremely long. It is too long term to keep consistent players because if a person is winning with a clear advantage it would promote players to leave. I think a 3 to 5 minute game would fit better. To add to that i would also like to point out that your "special races" mode could be the 20 minute mode which would involve certain play times on weekends. Overall there are not many things i would change and this definitely sounds like something that i would play. Great job! (´・ω・`)?

Note that the 30 min games are one of those and are supposed to mimic the endurance races found on games like Forza Motorsport and the likes

Dang, this is so good! If you got the speed effect (like speed 2), even though it doesn't affect the speed of the boat, the fov would make you feel like you're going at incredible speeds. Having this start off as a beta gamemode would be nice, to gauge people's interest.

Looks like it would be really fun to race on this map, but the lanes might need to be faster for more players.

Difference is that line dash fits more as a minigame of sorts (no joke it fits so well that puzzle pieces are jealous) but racing actually fits as a game. As well as what Builder556 said there could also be a whole new audience for this, i.e. the audience of Forza horizon and maybe even Motorsport
