Fishing Rod/Flail?!?

In skywars you can get a fishing rod or flail, but what do they do? They dont hurt another player nor make them take knockback. I see people using this to try and knock other players off when they're bridging, but it has no effect. Can someone please explain what use the fishing rod has?

You can fish with a fishing rod and maybe having some epic loot and if you havent' any food, you can use the fishing rod for catching Some fish.

They are just there for nothing, and I like it. It keeps noobs away from snowballs so you can bridge while they think youre hacking because their fishing rod doesnt hit you:p

It has an incredibly low chance of pulling someone.
Its so low that the thing is basically useless.

It does damage and draws players toward you in 1.8 Pvp.

I like to make a lake with some friends and just fish. I dont know why but its funny xD.
