Why you didn't do clans 4 the teams in teamSkyWars?
There is an important captain and 2 important helpers in the clan. The other rest, will be learners of the captain or... minions. You can put a name to the clan and do battles.

because that alienates people on the team and encourages some players to continuously put other players down.

Contributing to what kkbub said, it creates a lot of un-necessary tension & hate between players and also doesn't exactly bring a great atmosphere.
