Can I change my Rank?

Hello, I'm thinking in buying a Diamond Rank for my friend's Birthday, and for me too.
The problem is that I'm thinking in buying the Diamond Rank for the moment and buying the Obsidian Rank in the future, but I'm not sure about what will happen.
My question is: If I buy a Diamond Rank now and want the Obsidian Rank in the future, will I have to pay what the Obsidian Rank costs or just the difference between both Ranks? (Diamond and Obsidian), because if I have to pay all another time, then I prefer waiting and buying the Obsidian Rank directly.

You would pay for the remainder of the cost.
Example:

Diamond rank is 50 dollars, Obsidian Rank is 100 dollars. (Not actual prices)
You buy Diamond rank for 50 dollars.
After that, Obsidian only would cost 50 dollars since Diamond is 50 dollars.

Rank you want - Rank you have = Price
