Web Add Forum Rank (+ Badges)

Hey everyone!

I would like to make a suggestion about "Adding Ranks towards the forum with Rank Badges".

Most servers are using a system that links a player's profile from ingame towards their forums profile.
Whoever owns a rank (from buyable to staff ranks) gets rewarded with a forum badge and/or a title that describes what rank they own.

We do know that staff members already have a badge attached to their profile, but players who own a rank in-game don't.
In this suggestion post I will write down the positive & negative reasons and show some examples.

Add-on:

As some of you know, they changed from permanent towards monthly subscription ranks. I feel like there should be a difference inbetween badges, a perm & monthly badge.
This could be included in the badge itself or underneath as a "rank title" -> ex. (Permanent) OG Diamond OR (Monthly) Diamond

Positive reasons:

• More activity on the forums from in-game members.
• More recognition & money worth when having a badge.
• Removes the "blank space effect*" under posts.
• The visual aspect of having a badge (such as colourful layout).
• A reason to buy a specific rank if you want a certain badge.

* Blank space effect: no colour added, everything feels the same and not unique at all.

Negative reasons:

• People who can not afford a rank will feel left out.
• Players who never purchased a permanent rank can't obtain the perm badge.

Agreed. We had this before CubeCraft revamped the forums in June 2020. Why did we lose that? It's something small but helps us recognize the player in game

"But no paid stuff", sadly enough I do not agree with that opinion. I do think the badges should be linked to a paid rank.
For non-paid members, we already have the trophy points titles such as "Forum Expert", "Well-Known Member", etc.

Exactly like the java things. Not sure how Bedrock works when it comes to ranks, so feel free to give suggestion(s) about the bedrock edition.

For Bedrock, we have VIP levels, which in a way is like Java ranks (without game specific features) since they expand your friends and party slots, as well as giving you username colors and other cosmetics. VIP Experience is earned by buying content inside of the server. CubeCraft Discord has these tiers as roles.
Here's the tiers:
VIP 1-6: Bronze tier. "Stone" rank players are VIP level 1.
VIP 7-12: Silver tier
VIP 13-18: Gold tier
VIP 19-24: Platinum tier
VIP 25-30: Diamond tier. VIP level 30 players are given access to flying in lobbies
As for actual ranks with game voting features, map selection, and private games, we have game passes (subscriptions for individual games), alongside CubeCraft Gold Subscription, which grants access to every single game pass in the server. Its a nice idea i cant deny that , but didnt cubecraft forum had that in the past ? If i remember correctly ranked players like us had the rank logo next to thier forum's profile , but if you are talking about another type of badges , sure it would be a nice add-on .

Kinda, yes.
Back in the days it looked like this:

Staff members were able to change their backgrounds and their ranks were shown above their stats with a badge.

Every other player were shown with their in-game name + rank (back in the days you could link your account) on a sort of postcard.

In this thread, I'm suggesting to add the badges (like shown on staff members) to ranked players. The postcard itself was okay, but not really anything special since it was not a badge.
The postcard would be good if it's linked with your stats (kills, wins, etc).

Yes, yes and yes. Whilst I doubt it would make a very big difference, having it the same way as on discord where it’s just cosmetic, cause who doesn’t like cosmetics.

Great idea! I personally love the example you attached to your suggestion. I think it really helps you picture the final outcome; however, I disagree on some things that could be improved:

1. I would not insert any kind of title that differentiates those who had a permanent subscription vs a monthly one. I don't personally see a reason to highlight it (also fixes one of the flaws you highlighted!).
2. I would add a basic badge for those who don't have any rank, so that they don't feel left out. Of course, paid ranks = fancy, colorful animated badges, so everyone gets something!
3. I would add, as someone said in the previous comments, a way to earn some of the badges as a reward from challenges/forum activity, maybe.

On the creative direction side, I would create a frame that goes all around the user's picture profile and play with animations and color for the higher ranks.

To be honest, the difference between permanent or monthly could be showcased by another badge underneath your rank. I feel like there should be a difference since there is also a difference in-game (ex. Permanent rank members are not able to vote in newer gamemodes).

I agree with options 2 & 3, but I would mix them. I wouldn't add a "basic badge", instead non-paid members could also obtain rank reward badges which gives them a reason to be more active and not left-out when it comes to badges.

I do agree with your last sentence, would 100% be a fan of this.
