Besides no punishment for dying I also think it's a bit frustrating if you finally kill someone and he spawns back with all his stuff (especially in op mode).

For me respawning with your gear would feel like giving players in Skywars a second chance after they have died.

It just takes away the purpose of the game in my opinion.
Why would you have generators after awhile if you spawn with everything you have after you've died.

plus then if u have such op stuff but your opponent has terrible gear and u die and keep it that would ruin the point anything u just get a giant egg shell and u get
get diamonds your set to win the game isn't that easy

plus then u can get a lot of diamonds when rushing and suicide so u don't need a bridge or if u die with diamonds u keep them.
what's the point of that?

i mean i get if you could vote for that option with a diamond or emerald rank but normally that would make it boring because there is no challange

Reading this gave me a thought: Imagine campers with this, Just the thought of it is horrible in every way imaginable and making me question my hope in humanity, on a forum for a minecraft server.
