anvil

In SkyWars, I tried to combine the enchantments of two swords into a stronger one. However, the anvil kept refusing to give me the sword. Whenever I tried to get it, it appeared in my inventory for a second then went back to the anvil. Is there a reason to that?

I was just chilling, playing Skywars as one CubeCraft player would do on a Saturday night until I saw the most cursed thing I've seen in a while.

I got the blacksmith kit that gives you an anvil and some enchantment books. It can put enchantment on unenchanted items just fine. However, they cannot combine enchantments as they should. I tried combining a Sharpness II sword with a Sharpness I book and it does not turn into a Sharpness III...

Quick question. Does using an anvil made on my island breakdown over time or infinite like the one in hub? Thanks in advance 😊
