This has been suggested several times and denied everyone. The reason for it is that it would be very easy to cover your egg in obsidian and it would change the game in a large way.

They're is so much Negativity around this subject. Sadly they're aren't many advantages if this gets added.
And I can't think of a positive argument to neutralize the "No rage"...

look if lava gets added enderpearls must get added cause than you have these 2 which can counter eachother
( enderpeal yourself out of lava)
throw lava on the enderpeal
but if only enderpearls get added in ( don't make me expain this its Obvious) than all late game fans ragequit
and if only lava gets added in than all attacks will be defended and its just waiting for the one who can stay in the long boring battle for the longest amount of time

the water is a good defense
people who break the water are the stupid ones cause this water can be of great value defending ( cough slowdown)
