In games there's a low chance that a random person is given a mod tag.(just a tag like [mod]) In game you are not allowed to say mod, or moderator, tag or m0d or m0der@tor, or t@g.(to try and prevent the person that has the tag knowing) This will make hackers less likely to hack since they won't know if it's a actual mod or not. The person that is given the mod tag won't know they have it.

Only problems I see to this is that
1. People might think they are actual mods and try to get help from them, in which case say in the beginning of the game that if you need help go to the forums/check lobbies, don't ask in a game.

2. If there's a command that shows mod names.
Reason for a low chance is that let's be honest here, a mod is not in every game.

To clarify it's just a tag, they don't get mod privilages.

Now what if they are an actual mod and people won't listen to them? Make the mods have a /warn or something command to let a specific person know that an actual mod is speaking. This does not happen in lobbies.

Hackers would eventually catch on and if they don't get banned then the fake mod will have done nothing to stop the but confuse players. -1

Well, people will start to treat that mod as if they were mod. For example, they will ask the fake mod to do whatever stuff legit mods are supposed to do. Also, those who receive the fake tag might think they're glitching. As well as a whole bunch of other issues.

Actually, I'd think it would be better to have an actual moderator in game with rank and everything.
Me and @Lezappen prefer to stay hidden in games if there's a hacker/teamer so they don't give special "staff digging" treatment.

I don't like it, you can't keep people from talking about it in game and I don't think this will stop any hackers. Also even if it worked, if there is a low chance for every game to have a fake mod in it, then the hackers would just join a different game and it wouldn't help much. If the chance is too high, hackers would ignore the mod tags completely, so it would have the same effect as mods hiding their tags.
If they could implement it, I think it would be nice to give mods the option to join a game as a spectator invisible for players (like it works in assassination) so hackers can never be sure there isn't a mod watching.

deep inside my mind...
99% of the time, hackers are still going to hack. No matter whether there is someone with any sort of staff tag in that particular game or not. Most staff prefer to not stand out as well.

Honestly, the best way to deal with a hacker is to record them without saying anything. Then reporting them on the forums. There's no need for any special ranks/whatever. It's usually best to stay silent when against a hacker. At least, that's what I've found out in my years of moderating.

When does the moment when we can yell "LOL HAX RECORDED NOOB" come?

But really though, dank memes aside, this suggestion is so... under-thought and over-semplified, and as said above, hackers are gonna hack no matter what. Some people turn their hacks on only when they see a mod, to get their reaction (Wow, hackers are smart people!)

Because as far as I know, hacking is only to get reactions/revenge.
This will only generate weirder and less controlled reactions.

So, for me, it's a -1.

I don't know, maybe work on how it works, but as far as I'm concerned, in its current state, this suggestion will make no improvement whatsover if not make it worse.
It's just how it works in its base... It doesn't, at all.

Yeah, if you say anything, the hacker might turn off his hacks, thus botching attempts to record him (unless he was already recorded).
