Like, leech is a multi targeting air tower, but I don't have it and I dont know how much damage it would do. So what would be the better option?

Archer towers are MUCH better than turret towers...assuming you have a bunch of 3x3 spaces. Archers also have the highest damage/cost against air units. As for the turret: if you really need it, then you can use a 5x5 slot maybe, but for a turret's efficiency? Not worth it in most cases.

Why archers are better? A fully upgraded archer tower costs 210 coins. A fully upgraded turret tower costs 1920. For the same cost of a level 3 turret tower, you can build 8 level 4 archer towers. Additionally, a level 3 turret tower deals only 50% more DPS over a level 4 archer tower. Comparing those 8 level 4 archers against 1 level 3 turret and you can see that the archers fire 32 arrows per second while a turret fires only 6 per second. That's a 5x DPS difference.

Leaches and zeus towers can target blazes, but leaches do very little damage every 5 seconds and require charging to 100% for their shockwave to hit blazes.

Even then, if the enemy team is smart enough to waste leaches at spawn, then the leach tower will be worth almost nothing, effectively meaning your team wasted 2.5k coins on 1 fully upgraded leach. The same can be said if you place your leaches too far -- too far means your tower cannot charge, meaning it's another 2.5k coins wasted.

The best combination is a well-selected chokepoint with a lot of well-placed archer towers, good ice tower coverage, freeze potions, and optionally meteor shower and zeus. Other words, your archer towers should not be placed on the edge of the path - place them on the island in the middle of the path or in the center of any "U" shaped paths.

thank you hyperBravo, nice detailed explanation! I usually use ice and archer towers, but I was just wondering how effective leech is. Turns out it's pretty bad! Thanks for the help

I prefer archer towers, meteor potions, and freeze potions for killing blazes. However, it's tough to kill blazes alone. I recommend playing Tower Defense in the same way that I prefer going down dark alleys... with many friends.

@DaY0shi_: There's other factors to take into account besides using the proper tower against certain mobs. Your income and how well you and your team places towers and spends money also determines how well your team can hold off against certain mobs.

In many cases, teams lose to blazes or giants because your team wastes money on unnecessary towers such as the most common multiple ice/mages/potions next to each other (e.g. 2 ice nearby, 2 mage nearby, or 2 poison nearby), leaches in bad locations, using XP on unnecessary mobs, sending 1-2 blazes too early (rare), saving too much (big risk but rewarding for big mob waves), or not having an optimum gold mine. The first mistake is the biggest - out of 10 games, about 6-8 will have that. All in all, it boils down to bad macromanagement (macro for short) and building placement.

Leeches can two shot giants however it takes forever for them to charge so a wall of archers and turrets are better and faster
If the enemy team is stupid to send ground troops with blazes or spawn the blazes near a wither, then your TNT towers can also help out. To 2-shot a giant with leeches, you theoretically need at least 2 almost fully charged leech towers (almost never the case in practice).

All in all, the best is still a combination of freeze potions, well-spaced ice towers, meteor potions, and a lot of well-placed archer towers (where they can get the most coverage). Turrets have only 50% more DPS over a single archer. Okay if it's a 5x5, but in a 6x6 or larger area, archers win.

You can use lots of archers to kill blazes but if you want to beat a few waves of blazes, I recommend walls of Zeus.

The problem with Zeus is that it's expensive. Other than that, it has high burst damage against blazes.
On my end Zeus towers only seem to hit giants and the wither the towers dont activate for any others, in all leeches are the best damage wise as it usually either oneshots or does 3/4 damage

In my opinion, the Turret Tower is the most efficient method for slaying Blazes, especially when the Blazes are sent in a horde.

Leach can be more effective than archery. It depends mainly on where you are placing the towers. In hillside, demons, and original, there are areas where you can place leaches that get 2 hits as the blazes circle them. For leaches this means a very extended period to charge. If you are slowing the blazes in this region as well, and assuming the enemy does not speed them, leaches can be very effective. As soon as the first leach charges, the blazes are temporarily stunned, letting other leach towers charge further, until all have fully charged and dealt considerable damage. However, remember this method can be quite expensive, costing around 8000 coins. I would only advise this method if you are someone who rushes the last goldmine.

For most of the time, I would advise archery towers, especially if you are at 15 cps to 25 cps, which every player on the team should have acquired within around 5 minutes. However be warned that you will need a very large amount of them, especially if the enemy speeds the blazes. In the case of enemy speeding, you will need almost half your track covered in archery (which is why I prefer large maps), and you will need to drop slowness potions, along with a considerable amount of meteor shower (NEVER use zeus's rage or inferno on blazes. Zeus's rage should only be used on giant and wither, and inferno almost never. Meteor shower is probably the best defensive potion). Also, when building a huge archery range, most people upgrade all the towers to lvl 4. However, this is a huge waste of money. You should only ever upgrade your archery to lvl 3, unless in a map like perilous, where there are 3 rows and you need the range. Lvl 4 costs 60 coins and only increases the range of the archery tower by 1 block, nothing else. So if you have a range of say, 40 archery towers, you could have saved yourself 2400 coins, enough to buy over 340 lvl 1 archery towers!

However, in the end I would say leach is the best tower to place. Also, in the original question, it seemed you wanted to know whether you should unlock leach. To anyone else with the same question, I was say yes for sure, unless you do not currently have necromancer tower unlocked, in which that becomes a priority. The leach tower is not only good in the above set up for defeating blazes, it is also excellent for giants. My personal strategy is to have 3-5 necromancer towers positioned fairly close to start, a little ways before the leaches. These necros are almost always enough to split the giant, but then you are left with magma cubes. You how have 3 options. 1. Destroy the magma cubes with meteor shower (this takes a while and is very expensive but it is possible, I'd advise having the last goldmine). 2. Destroy the magma cubes with artillery (with the assistance of quake/ice) towers. However, this usually takes a lot of artillery, and by the time the giant was split, it is past your start artillery range already, so you would need a large second one, space that could be used for archery for the blazes. 3. Leach towers. I discovered this method accidentally when trying to beat blazes, and it works quite well. With slowness potions, the magma cubes (already slower) barely crawl along the track. When they reach the leaches, each tower charges 2-3 times between their slow movement and stuns from leaches. After the leaches are finished with the magma cubes, you'll have 3-4 tiny cubes, which can be taken care of with just a couple artillery, or even your sword.

NOTE: Be warned, the above method with leaches creates considerable lag. Make sure you don't get kicked from lag and lose the game that way :D
