So, I've seen a lot of people complaining that Obsidian is useless in overpowered mode. However, there is one block that could be a possible alternative: beacons. Beacons take 3.75 seconds to mine no matter what and could be a good 3 gold trade for a quick protection. Let me know what you think!

it could be a good idea because the purpose of the obsidian is so enemies cant get to it as quickly but i dont think it would make much of a difference. I think it could also lose some of the intensiveness that the OP option gives if you had more time to get the person away.

I personally like this idea. However, should cost more than obsidian.

Yeah they are, but they're not used for a buildblock I mean, they're used for being a beacon :p

If we added beacons, wouldn't we also have the effects that the beacons would give us. We have iron, so people could just probably get effects, and would make it op.

That's not possible as you need blocks under a beacon to activate it ;)

I don't think this is really needed, obsidian and glass are more than enough. Also, you can protect the egg with chests too, since they are hard to break if the person doesn't have an axe. ;)

I always use chests, but since they combine you can't make a second layer and put something in the middle. Although now that I think about it chests break in the same amount of time, so yeah beacons shold cost 5 gold because it lacks the axe function but obviously can't store things.

I use only for first layer,glass for second chests for 3rd and hay for 4 and 5

I protect my egg with infinite layers of air :D
