You know those newbies in Tower Defense who keep on messing things up? Well, I have suggestion to help prevent that.

1. Every once in a while, put a message in chat saying:
Tip: Don't place mages, ice, or poison too close to each other as they don't stack.
Tip: Place towers next to each other and next to the edges to save space.

2. If someone tries to place a mage too close to a mage, ice too close to an ice, etc., return an error message saying:
You cannot place ice/mage/poison too close together!
Also, make 3x3 towers only placable in certain locations:

(marked with green) This image is not very good, but you get the idea.
Same with 5x5, just different spacing.

3. If the guy is actually making you lose (rather than just being a nuisance) and everybody is trying to get him to stop but they won't listen, then they can be reported and temporarily banned from playing Tower Defense (as opposed to the entire server).

Also any other suggestions/proposals?

I thought this was a stratagy game, it isn't supposed to be easy and just have error messages pop up when a certain strat is bad?
We get error messages in Control Point when we try to light fires too close to teamates, or if we try to break blocks below our team... Besides, it can be a method of griefing (for once I'm in support of CubeCraft's hardcore methods of rule enforcement :P).

You have /votekick for a reason, although it doesn't usually work. Although, on maps such as portals it's next to impossible to put leaches and necromancers because your teammates are noobs.. So +0

I like 1, but if they don't listen to their team, they probably won't see the tips ;-; and 2 is just nahh xd

I completely agree that bad tower placement is annoying, but @Gaurdi4n is right, this is a strategy game and should probably be mostly up to the players

I also have another question: you know how if someone spams ice towers and lets you know in chat that he's doing it to troll you, you can report them? But what if they don't do say anything, and yet it is obvious they are griefing (like they completely fill the map)?

Try to be quicker then him. Place everywhere a level 1 archer tower. You can sell them and you can place other towers. So, the ground is yours and unexperienced people can't place towers there ;)

Okay, maybe proposal #2 wasn't very good (although, the second part of it may work, pretty much every other TD game makes it impossible to have wasted space - grid has 1x1 squares, towers are 1x1... why not join their club :)?)...

As for proposal #3, I'll change things up a bit: what if, instead of insta-ban, a reported player receives a warning, and if enough warnings are accumulated, it results in a ban from playing Tower Defense? Warnings will expire after a while, doesn't belong on the regular offense record (the one for hacking, swearing, etc.), isn't viewable on the offense tracker, and doesn't affect helper apps.

If it still isn't good enough, can we at least implement proposal #1? (Also, make it say the two tips in the tutorial thing, and make the tutorial thing more visible and "mandatory" for first-time players [The Hive actually does this]).
