Just putting it out their, minecraft runs horribly on a Chromebook, if it even runs at all. (i'm also a chromebook owner myself). Even though it has intel support, it can't handle the stain minecraft will put on it. Though if you're fine with only getting like 2fps, then you gonna want to open and install openJDK Java 7 Runtime from the software center. (it installs and converts the libraries needed. ) Since you already installed MC, go to it, click on properties, go to permissions, then click "allow executing file as program". then click and run mc and it should work. Again, chromebooks are not designed for gaming and you will lag but it's your choice.

my friend has the SAMSUNG chromebook, he managed to get minecraft and play it at 135 fps! and he had skype and music running on it too. so i think it would work

also i did what you said ages ago when i frst got minecraft on linux and the error was the result of that.

Check your LWJGL. What version of Java are you using?

he said all he did was get a new ram for the chromebook, installed it manualy, (he did it that for me also). Also my friend customized the insides for his like the memory and speed ect. so that is probably why it is fast. he said he would do it for me too.

Open a terminal/console/black window with text/hacker menu (whatever people call it these days) and just run "java -version" and paste the output here.
