Hi, I am quartz, I like QoL, I like Cubecraft and I don't like that Cubecraft lacks QoL. So that's why I'm making this suggestion to improve QoL on Cubecraft.

So, as you may have noticed, Cubecraft added new server regions, North America and Asia. This addition also requires the proxies and servers to know, which region individual players get put in. This is where the problem sits. The devs decided to make this "region decision" completely automatic, with no way for the end-user to decide what servers they want to play on. Currently, there is a high chance to get put in more laggy servers when playing off-peak times, with Cubecrafts reasoning being "to reduce queue times". Now, some players like me don't want to play on laggy servers but we are forced to. So:

Add a new setting to let the servers know what region you want to be put in

Here's an example of what that could look like:

1638641493904.png

1638641518693.png
1638641551715.png

This setting would tell the servers what region of game servers(NOT LOBBIES) you want to be put in.

yea thats it i have not much more to tell you about, have a good day or night

I disagree,
if they implement your idea, the games would not fill up and it would take a very long time to play a game.
That's the main reason why there's an automatic system for changing your region. It's just to avoid this problem.

Hi, thanks for the elaborated explanation and examples.
I'm unsure about your suggestion. Developers didn't "just" decide to set up this automatic system rather than a toggleable one. If there would be enough players for every region at all times, it could be made toggleable, but I still don't think you'd purposely go to a region that's further from you (for example to play with friends this could be handy, like you can already switch lobbies between regions).
However, atm, the regions are a bit calmer when it's night there. The automatic system will put you in your closest region whenever possible, but when there are barely any players online, it won't, and I think it's logical. I wouldn't want to wait 15 minutes for a game to start.

I agree with the suggestion. I'd rather play at optimal connection rather than with high ping, where hits and projectiles are delayed, and don't get me started with Java since high ping can feel like hacks there. I would like to see that option added, which people can choose if they want to disable it. By default, should stay enabled

I'd be glad to see this as a setting! Letting people decide whether they prioritise fast queues, or low ping should be a decision up to the player. I think it should also come bundled with a little message in chat; which appears every once in a while saying that you can choose which region you want to prioritise in your settings.

This doesn't sound good, knowing that people will do anything to gain an advantage and having a lag advantage is a real deal!

Depends, having 100Ping is a MAJOR disadvantage compared to 200. With 200ping you have a long enough delay to get closer to a player (when combod) it's easier to run away compared to 100ping.

100Ping is that sweat spot where it's easy to get combod because your delay is NOT that drastic compared to 200. And it's the perfect amount(it's not that delayed, again) to easily keep that player in a combolock (Due to a ping disadvantage)

100Ping also causes the player to get hit more when running out of a combo.

A LOT OF PEOPLE SAY "Just walk out of it or place blocks"

But, it's not that easy... I can't place blocks due to the player having better ping. The blocks just disappear .1 second later due to the player comboing me technically being in that block by the time my packet reaches the server. Causing the block to ghost.

I can't walk backwards because again that perfect timing. I can still get hit even if I am trying to run away. It puts me at a MAJOR disadvantage compared to my "advantages" at 250 ping

How did lags gives you "advantage"?

From my I learnt, having high pings only means higher chance of placing a ghost block, delayed projectile shoot or throw and pretty much delayed actions like running, opening chests, eating, etc.

This is one of the few reasons why they need to implement this feature.
Well no, CubeCraft already automatically decides which region is best for you. If you had the chance to be just a little better by pressing a button you wouldn't do it?

Oh so CubeCraft just randomly puts you into a region?
exactly.

They don't care if the region had least or lots of players, they just put you into the region and that's it. I remember i get teleported to asia region and was forced to wait for a minute and only starting the round with like 8 people. And everyone there isn't even mobile players, they're mixes of mobile, controller and keyboard and mouse.

It shouldn't be that hard to tell the difference just by judging their movements and their play style.
