Defensive position side quest

So on the island Blaze Spawner( forth island in the nether) there is a side quest where i have to kill blazes with protection i tried fire protection it didn't work and on the description of the quest it says i can acquire these effects with the beacon.I have a beacon but when i put ingots it doesn't accept it what should i do?

What do you mean with protection? Beacons are currently broken but for some quest you might need to use potions.

Try fire resistance... I am pretty sure I did a quest on this Island where I had to kill blazes with fire resistance.
But I am not sure.

You’ll need to eat a GOD apple for this. It gives the resistance effect.
