Crops not growing when timer is at zero

I have 100's of acacia trees that are at 0 seconds but none of them are growing. Is there any way to fix this? I do not want to waste any progress and wait another day and a half to finish this quest.

This mostly happens when there are some other blocks near the sapling which prevents it from growing. if there are any blocks, grass, flowers, etc around the sapling, remove it and look if the tree grows. Placing saplings next to each other shouldn't be an issue, so you don't need to remove saplings if you have them close to each other.

Could the area be insufficient to grow trees? maybe a problem with that

I have also noticed that acacia trees don't grow when there is water near the saplings. Could this be the problem?
