Good strategy is to get in to the middle as fast as possible.
You can always go rush people’s eggs, but I prefer punch bow and iron gear

I actually rush first, gather tons of resources, go middle, get good gear and weapons, pickaxe and keep rushing.

I do this in golf a lot (solo Eggwars). There is no problem until I get to the last player who has been farming on mid all game. I still have leather since I have been rushing all game. I most likely end up dying..
