What does level 4 quake tower do?

I have been playing Tower Defence for a while now, but I never understood what it meant by "Throws blocks in the air".

What do those blocks actually do? Block the troops when they land? Damage the troops if they hit one?

Or is this just an aesthetic?

Quake 4 stuns the mob for longer time and deals more damage. However it would only be for late game. Level 3 is sufficient for early-mid game.

The blocks mentioned in Quake's description deal some extra minor damage (around 6 extra damage at point blank range away from the blocks) and it's an explosive damage, meaning it can hit multiple troops at a certain radius with a damage falloff (the further away from the exploding block, the less damage).
