Actually... Why change our names? We've all got FABULOUS names!
Hate my name. Only chose SUPERxSNAP because Snapdr4g0nz was my alt, and couldn't remember password, and Pro_Snap was taken too ;-;

Also Pointing something out. Mojang are aware of the fact that you could loose your account maybe that's why your account is CONNECTED BY EMAIL!!
E.G
My account right is now is this:
User: XMOAB2DEATHX
Email: dre____mee@____.com (obvious reasons)
If I change my user.
User: StorySays
Email: dre____mee@____.com - I still have my email and therefore I should still have my rank as I am still the same EMAIL.
This is how I'm aware this works.

YoU can just experiment tbh. Get a new name and no rank, go back to the old rank.
But this also will be a problem or banning / muting coz you can change your username, I would suggest IP banning / muting but that would cause havoc if you have siblings.

NEWS: Summer Event is now in development and it's been confirmed that 5 weeks of Summer is back!
