My issue with the new lobby

I was pretty excited when the new lobby came out, since I always enjoy exploring lobbies and builds. However I quickly ran into an issue that I found very annoying: the huge number of barrier blocks preventing you from exploring outside the central area. And these barriers aren't just in hard to reach places at the very edge of the map, they are literally everywhere. My question is why? What's the point of all these barriers?

What are your thoughts on this?
