You can make a free server BUT! it take a lot time and you can get a ddos easy

With https://server.pro/ you can make a own FREE AND SAFE server It takes not a lot of time BUT! The server is one hour than you need to make it back one hour (See a turtorial on Youtube.com :'v)

But you better buy a server for 5$ (You can buy a server for 3monhts with 5$ :))

my own mind
it's not free.... free ones are of low quality. Servers are a big thing and involve a lot of work. Unless you're very willing and ready for the challenge, don't bother paying money. You must know all servers start with few people and if you're not okay with that you shouldn't waste money. I know someone who started a server after another and he wasted a lot of money.

Its free just on the https://minecraft.net/ --->
Server
If you want to run the server it's a bit more involved (see this wiki article for a tutorial). First make sure you can use java from the command line. On Linux and Mac OS X this should already be set up but on Windows you might have to tinker with the PATH environment variable. Download and run minecraft_server.1.9.jarwith java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui.

Alright, I have all the data for the forum statistics and curiosities thread, it took me multiple days to get it! The current program I'm using has a processing time of almost 23 hours! Had to use two computers to cut it down to 11.5 hours haha
