It depends on which types of farms you use, in the early game you should go for cocoa beans for money. Then you should move on to melon farms and automatic zombie and skeleton farms.

A very basic tip that I can give you, is always to have your crops of potatoes, beetrots, and wheat, when you have too much you can sell it in the store and you get more money than you think;)
