The Forum rules now say this about 'necroposting': you cannot reply to old posts in an attempt to revive them. This 'in an attempt to revive them' bit is completely redundant, since the rule is actually 'Don't reply to old posts'. You can't even give an opinion on them, even if your intentions are not to revive the post. I did not know this and my account received a punishment when I simply reacted to a post that happened to be on the older side. In my humble opinion, the rules on a network like this should be clear and concise, not ambiguous and free for interpretation. I have also learned a friend received a pumishment a long time ago for the same rule, simply for reacting with a heart to a post. I don't agree with this at all.

*or try to code it so posts get locked after a certain time of inactivity anyway, then the rule becomes unnecessary to keep.

Hello, thank you for your suggestion. For the sake of clarity and ensuring the necroposting rule is understandable and realistically enforceable, we have removed "in an attempt to revive them" from the necroposting rule description. This should make the decision of whether a necropost happened or not completely objective. The warning that is shown when a thread is older than 30 days has also been updated to reflect this change.
