And why? I see no arguments..
As said above, lowering the protection ruins the point of overpowered EggWars.
The reasons why dropping the protection is a better alternative than making a really sharp sword :
- Why we should change the protection values :
The protection values where first designed for 1.8 pvp.
1.9 has changed pvp so combats last longer, with protection 5 people have more time to regen during combat thus negating any damage taken, the damage/protection ratios are now clearly (in my opinion) broken as the only way to kill someone in op is to 3v1 them, break their armor or knock them into the void, 1v1's to the death in full diamond/full iron take way too much time, to the point at times where it is impossible to kill the opponent without doing as mentioned above.
You can check this though by comparing the max dps of the sharp 5 diamond sword (with 100% accuracy) against the regeneration speed of steak/gold apples and the protection value of protection 5 iron/diamond armour.
- Why we should keep the sword sharpness as it is :
Sharp 10 goes way out of the vanilla mindset, sharp 10 against Protection 5 would be equal to sharp 5 against armour with lower stats.
with a sharp 10 sword it would be a lot easier to kill people with lesser armor, in no less than a couple of hits, leaving less chance to those having only just recovered losing their gear to an un-improvised death.
Granted, the point of Overpowered is to have the maximum enchantments but the maximum sword enchantment for the sword in vanilla is sharpness 5 not 10 and the maximum enchantment for armour is protection 4 not protection 5.
This drop in protection will make it possible to kill people by pvping them, instead of breaking armor/shooting them off.
