I think we've both made valid points, but we'll keep on agreeing to disagreeing. I would still like to clarify what I meant by my previous comment.

Of course, a team has to be cohesive and there has to be good communication in order to make something happen, but a sense of friendship and creating a second family isn't the purpose of the team. I'm saying this because a lot of people have said the team was a great family and that Cube has destroyed that part of the community. But ultimately, that's not what its purpose was.
you didn't read the translator's Team application right ??

It's too early to say if this is a good change or not, but it COULD be. Ultimately, the goal of the team was to translate the network as much as possible. If this new system is more efficient and better overall, then great.
I think it's a very narrow way of looking at it

In making translations done from an open website, they've effectively removed any sort of teamwork, sense of community and an incentive for anything. While the goal might've been just translations at the end, they had created a seperate community within Cubecraft that pulled many people into the community. And now they lost that entire community.

And besides, I am having a hard time imagine who would want to spend their time on a translations project that give them no rewards, no benefits and no recognition. I personally wouldn't want to spend my free time translating for a server who literally couldn't care less about translations that they'd make it an open website. I'd instead go to Roblox where I can translate some strings for robux. Because what's the difference? They're both just translations; except in one of them I'm surrounded by understanding, compassion and incentives while the other is just basically pointless labor.

So I want to ask you a question; do YOU genuinely believe this new website will be more attractive for the community? If so, then I have no further words and I guess we'll just have to see if the translations will be done faster and better now.

This is also "a very narrow way of looking at it". The new and upcoming system has been mentioned very briefly in a few sentences. We only know the main concept, but not the details.
I have already said everything I wanted to say, so we'd be going in circles if I repeated it all again.

You know you can just like the post? šŸ˜›

I really do not trust that they will improvise this system with more details. Anything they did with TT only resulted in catastrophes, I highly doubt this time will be any different. It's just copium to expect anything good out of this change, but if want to be objectively positive about it I won't be trying to convince you that the change is bad or anything. I'd just prepare myself for disappointment though, lol

It all comes down to the fact that they never truly cared about translations or its team. They've put no real effort into it. It's why things always only went downhill

We wanted to thank our Translation Team for everything they have done to get the translations to the point they are at now! Each individual has contributed so much and allowed us to make our server available to Non-English speaking users. We are beyond proud of the achievements that you as a team have made and accomplished each step of the way! Seeing the content on our servers and even our rules become available to more languages has been an amazing sight. It is all thanks to you all!

While we may be saying goodbye to the team aspect, we are not concluding our continued efforts of making the content on our server available to more Non-English users all over the world. We are excited to welcome more community members to this project and continue with our translation project!
It's funny how you are saying thank you while deleting 3 years of work šŸ’€

Agreed on the first half, the purpose of the team isn't becoming family, thats a big side effect, which I think was a very positive one. That doesn't influence the second point however, where you say that cube has destroyed a part of their community is false. By removing TT, they removed a part of the core of the general community. These people didn't only work as translators, but also were active in the community and had great chemistry. You won't convince me after what happened here these people will all stay in the CubeCraft community. Because of that, you miss a core, which will possibly result in the breakdown of the rest of the community.

For all the other points I can perfectly find my opinion in Ge1ster's, so I won't comment on that part.

I do agree that we will have to wait for what the future brings to see the eventual outcome, but this is just what I think could happen

An alternative system that could be more efficient and is available to the broader community, allowing many more people to help.

How do you think this system could be more efficient?

There will be no consistency, no communication, it will probably be filled with kids who will tend to send nonsense and trolling. All that time that we used to review and improve the quality of the translations, we will have to spend reviewing the nonsense of others and thus waste our time.

ā€œThe account will be bannedā€, people will create another one and proceed to do the same. They will not be able to put any limitation on that.

Restriction of accounts by IP, people will continue saying nonsense and changing the IP as many times as they want.

Hai CubeCrafters!
We are excited to announce our future goals and process for getting our server translated into more languages and becoming accessible to more people!

šŸ«‚ Community Driven

We are going to be merging our current Translation Team with the entirety of the community!
After a lot of thought and looking into how the current recruitment process and growth of the team/languages has gone, we have found it to be rather difficult for people to join in on the project. We are changing this to make the whole translation project more open to everyone and easier for you all to contribute to.

When will this be happening?
We are excited to welcome you all onto the project. However, we will be putting a brief pause on the translation project so that we can ensure everything is ready to start welcoming you all onto the project! Once things are ready, we will announce it to you all and get the ball rolling! Keep your eyes peeled for that update.

šŸŒŽ Future of the Team

With these changes, we will be altering the way that recruitment for the translation project works. From now on, users do not need to apply to become a part of the translation project. Instead, you simply need to create an account on Weblate and start translating for your language!

What does this mean for the current team?
  • We will unfortunately be closing down the translation team as it is currently known. This means we will no longer have the Translator/SrTranslator ranks, as anyone can be a part of the team.
  • We will have applications for proofreaders, which will be handled through the forums, and will still have minimum requirements.
  • The Translation Team Discord will be closed, however, we will be opening a place on our official Discord where you all can discuss the projects or work with others at the same time.
  • All currently translated strings, that have been approved, will be pushed onto the network to ensure our translations there are up to date.
  • We will be putting a small pause on future translations until we have everything ready for you all to join in.

Keep in mind:
  • We will still be monitoring all translations.
  • If you suggest translations to be things that break our rules or are trolling, your Weblate account will be suspended.

View attachment 210623 What is Weblate?

This is the site we utilize to allow you guys to translate the strings on our server into your language!
It allows you all to see the progress that your specific language has made in translating the strings on our server, as well as individual projects' translation progress.

šŸ“œ Additional Information

Once the ball starts rolling in terms of making this project public, a few things will be happening in a specific way to ensure the growth of our proofreading team, as well as the languages we translate on the server.

These changes are as follows:
- Proofreader applications
We are still going to have proofreaders who can check the strings that have been approved or completed for consistency. To become a proofreader, please read our thread on how to join in on the translation project.

- Adding a language
Speak a language that is not yet available or started on Weblate/our server? Create a suggestion for it and if it gets enough support from others who speak the language, we will be happy to add it! We are constantly looking to increase the number of languages our server is available to in order to broaden the accessibility.

Can someone explain to me what this thread is all about?

So basically, Team CubeCraft decided Translation Team isn't the most effective way of translating the server anymore. They decided to 'merge' the community and the Translation Team for the translations.

What this means:
- Translation Team is disbanded: all translators are kicked from CubeCraft Staff and they took away all the red ranks in game, on the forums and on discord
- There will be a new site anytime soon with all the untranslated strings in the game. The community can translate these lines if they wish. This means they don't have to be part of the Translation Team anymore (as it doesnt exist), and there are no requirements needed to translate

Why did Cubecraft delete the Translation Team? Now 5 year old's will be using google translate to translate stuff without knowing how to proofread it, everything will be worse quality. Also the translation team was a big part of the Cubecraft staff, and they basically fired them without asking the community. [everything said here is my opinion]

I don't know. They said that it's no longer that active. And that isn't the first revamp. There already was a conflict like this, but it wasn't announced so publicly and kept within the Translation Team. That's why

This is sad. Also, there's no logic in it. IT IS COMMUNITY DRIVEN.
How do you expect professional translations from 10 y/o kids that decided to do it? There will be no proofreaders, and all of that...

Thank you every translator for these great 2 years, and I will see you on the flip-side.

You do have to note that there will be proofreaders. However, putting pressure on proofreaders to check complete nonsense is not the way to go in my opinion

Then you think that after years they have got on the right track and are starting to grow back, they come up with this useless idea. I feel bad for the people who have put in the time and effort.

I have heard from sources that this was not communicated to the people who had the translator function. From a server with this amount of players you would expect some sort of professionalism.

My respect for cubecraft has dropped for the first time in 5 years. Maybe this is the time to listen to the community and reverse this "trash(up)date".
