Hello, I am ThatBloodyPanda,
-=== Majorish spoilers ahead ===-
I have been playing on Skyblock; solo with the goal as many do to finish everything the mode and game has to offer. I tore through the game over many many hours and multiple months and have reached what i consider (and according to the forums) is the end game.
The nether unlocked, the swamplands destroyed
So all that is left is to clear the nether, and do all the quests within, and to do all the main quests given from the swamplands; seems easy right?
Well dear reader this is where I pose two questions. Why? and How?
Lets begin with the quest Mythical Majesty, this quest requires to enchant 4 separate items to level 6, oh that's no big deal, I can do that, I thought wrongly.
lets take an item, say leather boots to the enchanter, now to get these to level 6 from no enchantments requires:
- 60 Lapis Lazuli
- 20 leather
- 9 Lapis Lazuli Blocks
- 36 nether quartz
and the worst part
-115 experience
now that wouldn't seem so bad, but then you recall, these are leather boots, and so useless
a real enchantment, one that would be worth getting might be on an diamond axe, specially as you can use it for both combat and mining, the enchantment scaling works the same regardless of what you spec into, so with that to get a diamond axe to level 6 from no enchantments requires:
- 60 Lapis Lazuli
- 20 Diamonds
- 9 Lapis Lazuli Blocks
- 36 nether quartz
which is all fine as it matches with the leather costs, until you look at the experience required for this
- 720 experience
Which is 6 times, the amount of experience the game is asking from you in order to get the same amount of upgrades, Ontop of that 720 is a ridiculous amount of required levels; unless you are playing flawlessly and have a nether quartz farm of 64 nether quartz (at 7,000,000 coins per generator) and log in daily, at the exact time the quartz regenerates, and then do this for a week straight that number is virtually un-obtainable. And even then i haven't done the exact maths on this (also Nether quartz is the most efficient method of farming xp quickly and just so happens to be the cheapest in regards to high-level xp rewarding mob spawners requiring to be upgraded with items and coins)
This quest is un-skippable as it is required to unlock more of the nether islands, making this quest feel slow and unbalanced, specially for a main quest, (maybe i'm missing a method of making this task easier.)
Part two. Violent ends
This entire quest, exists
and it's equally poor in design in my opinion
the quest is to kill 1000 mobs of each of the 12 mob types you are given spawners for throughout the game (Doesn't include pigmen)
so that's 12,000 kills.... And yeah normally you would just make a mob grinder / burner / cactus kill room, but like, that doesn't count towards mob kill totals
which means the only solution is kill manually, and that's a lot to ask of a player y'know?
I just think that the quest might be a little I don't know too much to ask of a player? unless you expect them to make an xp and loot farmer and then enchant their sword / axe to like sharpness 7
Which as we just discussed requires like a trillion xp for a diamond tool, and also a MASSIVE amount of coins
And so you end up making a mob setup like this:
Which is 12 spawners, which unfortunately again is going to cost so many coins that it will take 5-6 weeks, then an extra week for grinding out the 1000 kills. Then even more time for mobs like spiders and cave spiders and slimes which require different types of farm.
I'm sure i'm missing something i just wanted to vent / rant somewhere / seek advice from fellow players,
Thank you all for reading, sorry it was a bit much to read
TLDR - I have issues with the enchanting system in skyblock (more the requirements and balance of the enchanting) and this cross correlates with other issues with the (final?) quest in the game Violent Ends.
