Switching my solo island to a co-op island

I started my island as a solo island at the beginning and now i am pretty far. However i would like my friend to join the island i currently have. is there a way to switch my solo island to co-op so i can play with my friend as well as keeping all my progress.

Sadly there isn't a way yet, but I hope this can get added in the future as I have done the same thing. If you want to play with your friend you'll have to start a new profile.
