Hello CubeCraft Team

I would like to suggest introducing a reset of old bans and punishments, combined with a second-chance system for players who were punished a long time ago. This would allow players to start with a clean record, giving them a fresh start while maintaining community safety. Such a system could also benefit CubeCraft by bringing back experienced players and increasing overall engagement on the server.

Over time, people change. Many players who received bans in the past were younger, less mature, or made poor decisions in the moment. With time, reflection, and personal growth, many of them have learned from their mistakes and would genuinely like to return as fair and respectful members of the community.

A punishment reset could include:

  • Temporary bans
  • Permanent bans
  • Bans related to ban evasion

At the same time, it is essential that serious and harmful offenses remain excluded from this system. Punishments for actions such as:

  • Doxxing
  • Leaking personal or private information
  • Severe harassment, threats, or other extreme violations

should remain in place to protect the safety and well-being of the community.

Additionally, such a system could serve as a strong motivation for better behavior. Knowing that there is a possibility to return with a clean record encourages players to reflect on their actions and prove that they can follow the rules and contribute positively to the CubeCraft community.

This system would not mean ignoring the rules or lowering standards. Instead, it would show that CubeCraft values personal growth, responsibility, and the ability to learn from past mistakes, while still maintaining strong protection against serious violations. Overall, it could help CubeCraft grow and maintain a positive, active community.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and for continuously working to improve the CubeCraft community.

I just wanted to point out that a similar reset of bans and punishments was done about 3 years ago. You can see the announcement here:
https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/we-are-changing-the-way-we-moderate-cubecraft.341450/

This shows that CubeCraft has successfully implemented such a system before. Many players have changed since then, and giving them a chance to start with a clean record now could benefit both the community and the server.

Thank you for considering this!

Personally, if someone is temporarily or permanently banned, it should just stay that way. People who break the server rules don't deserve a "second chance". They should've just not broken the rules at all in the first place.

Plus, the fact that a long time might have passed, doesn't matter. It's still the same person, so it's very unlikely that they've "overcome their issues" in a few years or something. And also, players who were banned ages ago, probably moved on already and don't even want to try again.

Hello.
Thank you for your suggestion, but the current system was designed so we don’t have to resort to resetting/wiping punishments again.
Previously, punishments followed a track that could lead to permanent bans (for example, a cheating ban could be 7 days, then 30, then permanent). Currently, permanent bans are only applied manually by the moderation team, and if a player is permanently banned, it is because their actions were serious and they are no longer welcome on the server.

Players who have been punished in the past were banned for breaking the rules, so resetting their bans will only increase the number of players breaking the rules.
