Issues connecting to Minecraft servers

Since yesterday I have trouble logging in to minecraft from my home internet. If I connect using my phone's internet or a vpn I have no issues.

I don't think it's a dns issue, because it will work sometimes (but very slowly) and timeout most of the time. I also am using the same dns when connected to the vpn (208.67.222.222).
I already tried to move my .minecraft folder but it didn't help.
One idea was that my isp upgraded me to IPv6 which they did before, but I checked and I am still using IPv4.
I can ping the authentication server.

Does anyone know what could cause this?

I don't want to pay money for that, especially since I don't think it's a misconfiguration of the router. I did restart my computer.

I had this problem. When I had that problem, I could not find the solution either. I just waited for a while, and it worked well again. I think it's a problem with Mojang when you change your ip by using a VPN client.

You may also want to update to the new launcher the old one dosent work well because its not supported anymore

That is the current official launcher for linux. I actually downloaded it from minecraft.net on saturday after the issue first occured.
The new launcher does have a linux version that I didn't try, but minecraft.net still distributes the java launcher.
