Not sure it would be feasible to have a leaderboard with the top 1000 in the lobby. I suppose if it was on boards rather than the wooden dummies, but it would clutter the place. As an online leaderboard, sure, but not in the lobby.

IMO, the top 5 is adequate.

Yeah someone else also suggested an online leadership board recently and it has quite a few supporters. I think it's a good idea :) I vote a yes for it!
