@Story Does that mean leaderboard(not really a rank but similar) players who get focused deserve /nick? This should not have been a problem because Translator rank should not have had any perms.
just look how many people will apply just bc the rank probaly, If they made this announcement without saying that people would get rank or that they dont get rank only private then so less people will aplly
I get insanely targetted in Blockwars for example, and I don't get /nick, nor does Mivke, or NLodjo nor any other recognizable player in the community gets /nick, I don't see why they'd add /nick to translators...
@Oreo♥️ I can safely assume that it's nowhere near as common as staff, and its wide across all games and platforms. So its a much bigger deal in this case. Also trying to give out a rank to specific leaderboard people is very subjective and difficult to manage.
@Smoothlyy They have those permissions to do very specific things with them, not to use entirely as they please, they cant escalate threads that are not to do with translation stuff, same with other perms, its for the purpose of their rank only.
@Mivkeee Why is more people applying a bad thing? Elenahh and her management team exist to go through all the bad applications and find the good ones, that's what they do.
Yeah okay, but with all due respect, translating (at this level) isn't hard, almost everyone learns English as second language on school. Designer is building/editing/etc, which is something you need to learn and that is hard. Helper/moderators need to be role models and have a lot of responsibilities, same as Developers and admins.
What's more, I, as many more, translated the rules back in 2017 and those were used for a long time before the translations team formed, and none of the people who contributed got "something", not even a "thank you". (2/2)
Its way more accessible than Designer and requires less skill, however it still needs a considerably large dedication of time.
Saying "oh it didnt exist before" is such a strange thing to say, because we cant time travel and fix how something was. They are obviously putting it in place now for going forward.
I play with Kloska somethimes and i see that hes getting focussed so much bc hes mod but i can image he doesnt want to /nick bc then none of his friends can talk to him if he sees the game so why make a rank for only /nick and infinity friend list? The only thing that is really handy is the infinity friend list lol
Not really that hard, a ranking system where the first 10 players get a special rank like "Blockwars Master #1" and thus get /nick shouldn't be too hard. Hypixel does it with build battle, for example.
@NotGingerGeek I feel like this is where the subjectivity comes in where some people hate it and some love it. Is whether you think the rank has a high enough workload.
Bruh I was literally replying to the point you made that giving ranks to leaderboard players is hard, it's really not, I still don't want them though cuz they'd just bring more attention. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Story When you say that leaderboard players are hard to manage, the same can be said about the Translation team. Translation team members can be as toxic as leaderboard players from what I have seen. What would happen if these people got /nick? It got be abused terribly. My point is that giving leaderboard players and translation team members requires the same amount of work and difficulty.
That just happens with staff ranks, I dont think it was a specific choice made xd
Anyways, Im gonna dip out of this convo, just thought I'd write some things, dont wanna loop around and be here for ages.
