I did notice that as well, I don't understand what their motive was. I don't think a lot of people will miss the game but the transition was quick.

I've got a tip to add: Most levels have at least one white structure that you can hack. It's worth delaying the completion of an objective and hacking these first as they unlock new weapon blueprints, award data (money), or decrease the enemy power.
