Want a rank but don't have one? Got jealous and saw a ranked player get permabanned but want his better rank? Don't think you'll win giveaways? Then you've come to the right place!

Background information
Cubelets have 5 rarities: common, uncommon, rare, legendary, and mythical. As of last month, I've started a WIP 1000 cubelet opening where I'll gradually open cubelets (so far opened 160 out of 400 for my 1st milestone; 2nd milestone will be 1000). In theory, mythical chances are less than 1% (have obtained 0 from this experiment so far).

A lot have also complained about duplicates. This suggestion pairs better by partially refunding duplicates by giving points (or maybe cubelet fragments). In this case, this suggestion won't have that problem at all.

Main Suggestion
Let's have ranks offered as a mythical drop (or another rarer category). These ranks have a significantly lower chance to drop (example: maybe 1 out of 1000000 or even lower) than regular mythicals.

Rank upgrades:
-stone to iron rank
-iron to lapiz rank
-lapiz to gold rank
-gold to diamond rank
-(optional): diamond to emerald rank
-(optional): emerald to obby rank
-(optional): obby or diamond rank (straight from current rank)

If the player has the highest rank, this drop will not drop at all. On the side, everyone is notified when a player receives a rank from a cubelet (e.g. "(name) has obtained (rank) from a cubelet!").

Frequent responses (will be updated)
1. This'll feel like ripping off current donors!
-This is why I suggested an extremely slim chance (almost zero) of getting it. The player can always buy the rank from the store and probably has a better chance of winning giveaways if he enters them frequently. This encourages cubelet opening should a player unlock all the cubelet drops. Buying a rank guarantees the player that rank while a giveaway will give the player a chance based on how many enter (approximately thousands enter official giveaways).

2. It's against the EULA.

Nothing in that link mentions about giveaways, just hard currency. No paid advantages are given with this suggestion.

I definitely think that some change is needed to make cubelets interesting to people that have been playing on the server for a longer time. I don't bother opening cubelets anymore because I have most of the vanity stuff already and in the rare case that I get something I don't have already I probably won't even notice. Having a very small chance of getting something actually good out of them would make obtaining and opening cubelets a lot more fun.

I also would like to suggest not showing duplicate items again so you notice when you get something new. Instead it could either say "<player> found nothing" or maybe even give the player a few points instead and say "<player> found x points".

I do like your suggestion a bit, but i dont think you should be able to upgrade from lapis to gold and gold to diamond, thats too much as the current donors that have ranks (including me) have paid money to get the rank and it would be unfair for people to just get a good rank like gold or diamond for free. I only think you should be able to get iron like they do in most giveaways.
In general i think its a good idea but only iron rank should be possible to get no matter how small the chance is.

Doing a rank giveaway isn't against the EULA so why would this be against it? It's pretty much the same, just automated.

this wont happen because of it and then Cube wouldnt be making as much money to keep the server up
If 100.000 cubelets get opened per day they would lose about £60~£100 a month which isn't that much for a network this size. (I don't know the actual amount of cubelets opened per day, probably way less. Also take into consideration that most people that get a rank from this wouldn't have bought the rank if they didnt get it from a cubelet)

The actual reason it won't happen is because CubeCraft only adds things which makes them money. This, does not make them money.

I don't think the EULA specifically states that servers aren't allowed to make people feel scammed :p
I have heard seomewhere on this forum that selling anything that can be obtained in game (including vanity only stuff) would be against the EULA, but I don't really believe that and reading it I can't find that part. Could you maybe provide a quote that states why this shouldn't be allowed?

Also as someone that bought a diamond rank I can say that this would not make me feel scammed in any way and also wouldn't hold me back from buying a rank upgrade myself.

Not against the EULA. I've added the link in the OP.

A lot of people still think it's OP. I put a reason why I made the chance extremely small (can be even smaller). It's so small it's almost negligible. It also takes a very, very long time to get thousands of cubelets: you trade a lot of in-game time for just a tiny chance of getting a rank from a cubelet. Still expensive in terms of time.

The rank can last 1 day - 1 week, anytime in between and can be extremely rare as you have stated with the %.
This temp rank provides the winning player with all the features the rank they won has but these features get removed after the time period ends.
EDIT: If you win the temporary rank you will not get the friend slots

I paid for my rank. Others should do so too, unless they win a giveaway. And you might think: "Why do you think giveaways are okay and cubelets are not?"
Well, a giveaway is done to celebrate a certain event, and even if you already are obsidian rank, you can give the rank you won to a friend. Also, this events are held once every 3-4 months. With about 30k daily players, and about 2 cubelets per player per day, the chances of a rank being given are high, even if there's a chance of 1/1.000.000.

I think it should be a store feature. What i mean is that in the store you can have a 2 day rank to see if its something you want and then you can never get it again, bacause or else it would be abused to get a free rank.
I think thats better than having a small chance of getting a temporary rank from a cubelet.

I understand what you mean but it wont be line that of it only lasts for 24 hours, everyone will want to try and then after a week you will barely ever see temp ranks.
But it might actually still be a bad idea.

I hate to break it to you but this probably won't ever come. Cube craft is able to keep running because people buy ranks and if anything they want people to have more reasons to buy a rank not less because you're hoping to get one free.

You can think that but it's unfair for ranks that spend lots of money on their ranks already. And it may be a good idea on a player side of things because everyone wants a rank but you have to look at the business side of things. If cube craft wasn't able to make money they would have to close the server down and then no one could play rank or not. Also cube craft is a business and needs to make as much income as possible. If they give away ranks that means they have one less potential customer and that's why they won't do it. I realize you want a rank but cube craft wants you to buy it because even though its a minecraft server its also a business that needs money to maintain its self.
