Should there be a penalty for leaving a game?

I have been playing some games on Cube-Craft for a while now, I can't even explain how aggravating it is when you are depending on your team and they just leave... I have played on other servers where if you leave mid game, you can't play for 5min or so.... I know sometimes things come up, your computer crashes.. ect. But personally I think that whether they mean to or not, a 5min penalty would stop the "Jokers". I was playing eggwars, me and my team made it to the top two, then they said " sorry lol..." then they BOTH LEFT! I had no chance, although I tried of course I failed :/

There are always players who actually have to do something. I personally don't have any issues with these people, although that might be because I'm a veteran player.

Well for those people who have to actually go somewhere... What is 5min if there not on the computer?
LOL it wouldn't annoy you if your WHOLE team left you ?

It wouldn't actually. I've eliminated the entire map with no help before with no more than leather armor and a wood sword.

It sometimes can be annoying. For me it is more annoying if someone just AFK's on the diamond generator for some reason. I don't think there should be a penalty for this though as sometimes computers crash and etc. Also I don't think many people go around and just "leave" halfway through a game just to be annoying to others. If they do that then meh, it doesn't really happen often and it isn't a massive issue.

No because some people leaves games for a fair reason.

e.g. One player may vote for overpowered before another player joins, then when the games starts the other player didn't realise that overpowered items were voted and they may not want to play overpowered so they would leave.

If you want you can play the solo game types. (That's what I do if no friends are online) Also having a penalty if they leave is a little bit to harsh. Sometimes players leave because of dilemma or family erran and they have to go. Other times there minecraft crashes and that's way they leave. If they were to get punished by a "mistaken" disconnection, that would be to harsh. So sorry but -1 for me :(

Sometimes I have to leave to eat or do house chores or even my Homework ;-; I dont think they should be punished just because they left...

It's unfair to punish players for leaving a game. It doesn't matter which reason he/she has,..after all it's their decision to leave since they most probably have something better to do.

Maybe it could only be for certain games, like tower defense for example. If people think they are going to lose they just leave half way through leaving you hanging. I think this idea could be interpreted into something slightly less harsh.

Me when a useless teammate leaves (you know, when you are playing with 2 friends on a map for 4 persons per team): Finally that guy left, now he can't screw our strat and make bridges to the enemies so they can reach us easily!!!
