I know it's a joke and all, but the reason he flew to the void was because he got speed 2 from the ability and walked backwards. Look at his particles. From the magenta-like particles of the regen effect, to pink. Speed particles are white-ish, Any color with a mostly red hue and white often make a shade of pink. In fact, at the last second, you can see a few of his particles are pink, just before he falls to the void.

Considering speed 2 affects backwards walking too, he tried to strafe but accidentally got too close to the edge, got knocked to the side, and fell for walking backwards too fast without realizing, lol.

Ok nerd stuff aside, that was pretty funny.
