enderpearl eggwar

Yesterday I was playing eggwar on the map underdasea, got an enderpearl and throwed him on the highed on wich i would should an arrow, 10 meter above the island or so. I was throwing from the middle island. I did this 2 times and both times I diddnt teleport? I dont know why, did i throw to high...
