Yeah I had a feeling it was done with a system of favoured maps but the reason I said this was just because there were so many instances of the same map each with nobody on them for 10 mins straight, which doesn't really make sense XD. I also thought each lobby has the same map? Might be wrong...

Not really an addon but a lot of people fill up Kingdom (our favourite map) in a matter of seconds, and it barely ever comes up. Maps like teaparty show up multiple times on the board and nobody plays it/it fills up very very slowly. Think there should be more kingdom/more popular maps loading...
