Tbh if you're just starting out you should use Windows movie maker. Or iMovie if you a Mac person. They are pretty good and simple to use. I would recommend both. And for recording definitely fraps.

Ok thanks :) Do you know how long I can record up to though with fraps?

Spending on if you get the full version. I believe the free versioning gets a few minutes, but the full version probably just last until you don't have any more space left on your of xD so far the longest I've tried it was for a few hours, so that should probably be enough.
