I completely self taught myself for 3 years and have been taking courses for 2 years.

If you look at my "what language do I choose" thread, that should help a bit.

Always bare in mind the language standards.
Look up youtube tutorials.
Get books (if you like reading!)
Look at other people's work of the same language on github/bitbucket and learn from them.
Work on things yourself/experiment.

I say 'courses', they are more like advanced java classes :P

How would you recommend getting through the beginning? It seems quite boring since you can't get to start doing stuff, what did you say?

Wow that was horrendous grammar. What I mean is, the beginning is the most boring, any suggestions to make it more interesting? (As in actually being able to program something)
