I believe you need to know English in order to be part of the Translation team. You need to be able to translate English into your language. I don't think it needs to be perfect English though.
''Fluent in English: We are aware that English is not everyone’s first language, but you need to be able to communicate with the team, as well as understand what you’re translating. If you’re able to do that, then it won’t be a problem for us to invite you''
I will not deceive you, I am using a translator (ONLY FOR ENGLISH) because I am learning ... I only know the basics (I don't know irregular verbs and some things, I started an English course these days ...)
You can give it a shot and apply. We have a test on the team and if you pass it, that means you will be able to help us.
Keep in mind that this applies for Portuguese only though. We only pick applicants with high language and translation skills for Spanish as we have many applicants for this language and a huge team.
