Why did they add this?

They're taking the whole bundle idea from the Bedrock server. There, you get a prefix like [THANKSGIVING] instead of the default Stone rank (not displayed next to messages). I suppose it's to reward the customer. Sure, no-one else cares they bought it, but they do.
