He's saying that placing statuses doesn't give you any messages/posts. You can get messages/posts by commenting on threads.

Stop spamming messages on your profile, if you want to have messages that actually count, you should give USEFUL feedback (no spam) to suggestion threads or just reply to other threads in general. Spamming your, or someone elses their profile does not count
