You dont need to have any experience in redstone, because most builds dont have any redstone mechanics in them. You need experience with worldedit though, and voxelsniper would be useful too.

Well @K_T_W, being a builder could be fun but it all depends on what you mostly like of building. You have different ways where you can go as a builder, for example:

- Be a builder who builds with friends on a survival server, this is mostly something what everyone has done at least once.
- Be a builder on creative servers, who either wants to get better in building and have a dream of joining a well known BT in the building community.

- Be a builder who joins bts, doesn't matter if it is a new or a more known. This is where things start to change, you will learn how to work with other people and get your first impressions with being in a team. This can either be good or bad.

- After all of that, you will either decide: Give up on the teams and just build for fun, or getting serious and wanting to get better in any way you can and aim to join the bigger teams or even do commission builds (where you get paid) for building.

This is just a small summary/example of what you can define in "fun to be a builder" personally, I enjoyed building for a bit. But once I joined bigger teams and get in touch with the building community, my own motivation went more and more off. So I would say it is fun, as long as you have people you like to build with you unless you like building solo.

For the redstone part: As @MartijnMC said, redstone experience is not needed. Main builds are done with plugins like: WE, VS, GB, GP and a WE add-on named: CS Build, with these you can create things like: Structures, terrains and organics with ease. But of course you would need to have the knowledge, technique and experience on how to use them.
