What's the theme though? Custom trees can vary based off theme sometimes. If its going to me a normal oak wood one then I love to add fences, slabs, and stairs around the trunk to give it some extra detail. Also I like to mix up the blocks I use when creating leaves. If you are going to use oak leaves, you can add bits of maybe green clay or even some tainted green glass. Also tainted glass panes can be used as falling leaves. Buildings and structures pertain to the theme which I don't know, but buildings should have depth and detail. You also want to make sure its not too monotonous by adding a good color pallet, unless the theme is more on the one color side. Terraforming is also really important, it can help your build significantly if you are good at it. When you mix up the blocks that look well together, the terraforming look a better. The parkour itself doesn't have to look amazing as they are usually one block, so choosing the color of the clay should really be as easy as, does the color match? If so then you should use it. Hope this helped :)

Just saying, if you're applying for parkour builder, the blocks shouldn't be floating in the air, they should be integrated in the actual scenario.
