( I didn't know where to post this, so just move it if this thread deserves a different home :p)

Before I start, your MAC address has nothing to do w/ a Mac computer. lol.

But does anyone know a free, (and safe) program to download that can change your MAC address? I can't seem to find one!

MAC Addresses have nothing to do with IP Bans so don't worry about that xD

I know, I can't seem to think a reason you'd need to change it.

oh. Well, MAC Addresses allow you to change your assigned Static IP, which is an ip that doesn't change at all, most computers start out with a Dynamic IP address which changes every 24 hours that I believe. Most people want their static ip changed due to Viruses, Malware and Spyware etc.

Your router uses your MAC Address to identify your device, if it's changed your router will think you have a brand new device that's trying to connect to the router, if you done this then if you goto your router settings you'd have 2 of the same device up there with different MAC Addresses.

    Okay, nano.

    Windows:
Open the Device Manager, (you can use the search bar)
Locate the network device that you'd like to change under "network adapters", right click it and Select properties.
Click the "Advanced" tab and select "Network Address" in the list. If the option isn't there, then your Network Driver doesn't support the feature.

Enable the Value option and enter the MAC Address in which you would like to use, don't separate the characters, use dashes or use colons. Press OK.

Well, Recently my dad bought a linksys smart router, that can block my computer after a curtain time. (This involves your MAC address I believe) and I kinda need the internet. lol. (Gaming , HW etc.) so if you just change the MAC address, (temporarily so my dad doesn't relize I spoofed it) I should be able to get on anytime I need to :p
Thank you so much, I will try this. (Can't right now) My only worry is that , I don't know if he set the router to "block unknown IP's" or not.

So I would have to figure out an acceptable address that isn't blocked at that time. Witch may be risky :p

Your router shouldn't do this automatically, no MAC Addresses should be automatically blocked, that has to be done manually by the routers administrator. (you)
People may block certain addresses to stop certain devices, this is basically what the parental tool does on most routers, just blocks the mac address at a certain time given, this may be why you are changing it.
Just choose any MAC Address other than the one you've got but keep note of the one you have just now in case something goes wrong, then you can easily change back before anything drastic happens.

In theory your IP shouldn't of changed unless it was dynamically assigned. So that shouldn't be a worry.
