Reasons why it might not be working:
-You didn't actually place the right URL in the thingy
-Might not even be an image/gif file

Could you do me a favor and show me the URL you are trying to use?

    Well thar's your problem

Do me a favor and try the following:

    1. Find the picture and put it on desktop/somewhere you can find it easily
    2. Go to http://imgur.com/ and hit "Upload Images"
    3. Drag your image into the web tab and hit upload
    4. Click on the picture once it uploads
    5. Copy/Paste the URL of the viewed image
    6. Paste dat fine little URL into your signature thingy (With the image tool of course)
