Apart from that, there is a mod which fixes this bug.
1.8 isn't that much "worse" than 1.7, if you know how to move a mouse while playing 1.7, you know how to move a mouse in 1.8
Make EggWars and SkyWars 1.7 rather than 1.8.

Don't forget the smooth sneaking animation. If only the smooth sneaking animation came back, mc would be great again.
Proper hit reg is useless now? Go back to lying under your rock, or should I say cubelet

But if I wanted to replace 1.8 with a similar gamemode with better hit reg, what can I do?

I don't really care tbh. CubeCraft is the biggest 1.9 PvP network that's existing right now. You should be happy that they even managed to add an 1.8 feature. Unlike Hypixel is this a server looking forwards, and not keeping the 1.8 PvP because all the people spending so much time on 1.8 PvP are not able to learn a whole other PvP style which is in my opinion way more fun. This may look like I hate 1.8 PvP and their players but that's not the case, I just prefer 1.9 PvP and I'm honestly glad that the server I grew up with keeps looking forward and not the opposite. So I know a lot of 1.8 players prefer 1.7 PvP because of many reasons I'm not aware of because I'm not interested in versions which are 3 years older, so let's just say this is useless imo.
